Troup Bywaters + Anders has signed an open letter, written by the UKGBC, to the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State, calling on the Government to reform the English planning system to bring it in line with the Climate Change and Environment Acts.
As a socially responsible and ethical partnership, we are dedicated to playing out part in reversing climate change, resource consumption and protecting the environment for future generations to come.
The letter, signed by 100 other socially-responsible businesses, calls for The Levelling up and Regeneration Bill to be strengthened, ensuring the planning system aligns with our net zero emissions targets and helping restore nature across the UK. With 66% of the public in favour of climate change targets in the planning system, these reforms would be a popular, powerful, and financially sound investment in the UK’s future prosperity.
The breadth of support for these reforms spans the entire industry and will signal to the Government that the bill be needs to be amended to provide a more consistent approach to handling climate, environmental and natural restoration considerations before the crucial window of opportunity closes.
